Walking long distances comes naturally if you grow up in the country. There are only so many places public transport can go, especially on Sundays. If you don't much like puffing and struggling uphill on a bike, the only other option are your own two feet.
I still walked everywhere in the cities I lived in, but it's not the same. It's just a matter of getting from A to B. There are buildings to admire, people to watch and shop windows to peek in but as far as I'm concerned, you can't beat mud, narrow streets, barley fields and walking for the pure pleasure of it.
