I'm really in the swing of being a country bumpkin, but sometimes you want the hustle and bustle of...a moderately sized town. Mike needed a suit for a wedding and I wanted a night away so we killed two birds with one stone and spent the night in Inverness at the Glen Mhor hotel.
Like everyone else in the UK, we were going to see Spectre at the cinema but it was sold out so we ended up seeing a viewing of Inglourious Basterds instead. I'm obsessed with Melanie Laurent in that film; she's a total badass and makes me want to go back to Paris immediately to clog up my arteries with fatty foods and Marlboro Lights.
Saturday was spent eating and shopping before heading home to make green tomato chutney and do an accidental photo shoot with my cats. Good mental health is still a work-in-progress for me, but there are far more good days than bad since I started counselling.
Watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and making caramelised red cabbage may not seem thrilling ways to spend my weekends, but it's slowly putting me back together, as well as the sight of Mike's muddy, freckled face when he comes back from mountain biking. Baby steps.
